| Where can professionals and researchers find the authoritative text of Indonesian legislation? The answer to this question, like many things in Indonesia, is not so straightforward.
The official State Gazette (Lembaran Negara) carries the official texts of legislation. The Supplement to State Gazette (Tambahan Lembaran Negara) carries the official Elucidation. The problem is that these publications are typically behind schedule. The state-owned PNRI Publishing House tries to remedy this by publishing legislation on a case-by-case basis. There are also commercial publishers who publish for sale compilations of recently enacted legislation. These tend to be more current, but sometimes they contain typographical errors.
The end result is that it is difficult to be absolutely certain that what one has is the authoritative text. Much depends on its source. Here at Indobizlaw, wherever possible we use the official text from the State Gazette. For a more recent piece of legislation, we obtain the text from a variety of sources and compare them. From time to time, we find errors. Thankfully, most of them are obvious and we correct them straightaway. Those that are not are annotated accordingly. In this way, we do our best to provide our subscribers with the most accurate texts of Indonesian business legislation available.
Sincerely, Dr Benny Tabalujan Principal Consultant Indobizlaw Online
